Behing the Alphabet

October 15 – November 30, 2018

Artemisa Gallery is pleased to present Behind the Alphabet, an online show by Argentinean artists Pablo Lehmann and Alejandro Thornton.
Alejandro Thornton and Pablo Lehmann both emphasize language through the reiteration of words and letters. By focusing on the repetition, viewers are able to draw attention inwards entering a world of intimacy and loneliness.

Pablo Lehmann creates intricate three-dimensional works by shaping and cutting paper sheets and synthetic cloth. His detailed webbing of literary and theoretical book excerpts guide and shift perception, allowing different interpretations.

Alejandro Thornton uses the letter “A” as his mantra. He builds the letter throughout his work using acrylic on canvas and ink on paper. The simplicity of highlighting “A” transforms and creates a new meaning to how we view language.
Each work invites us to discover and feel what lays “Behind the Alphabet”. This tension between the complexities of the work allows the mind to be still and just observe the here and now.
“Behind the Alphabet” will be available online and by appointment from October 15th, until November 30th, 2018.
