Vicky Barranguet is an abstract expressionist artist from Montevideo, Uruguay. She currently lives and works in New York. Barranguet found her own voice and colorful expression of life, emotions, and music through her studies with master painters, such as Larry Pons and William Scharf. Her spontaneous and daring paintings combined with other art forms led to the creation of her vibrant artistic approach.
Her work is embodied by an empirical investigation of the pictorial structure, where processes departing from spontaneous gestures evolve into elaborate and complex systems. Improvisation and organization of form and space are at its core.
She was awarded with a Merit Scholarship from the judges and curators of The Frick Collection and has since been the subject of solo and group exhibitions internationally. Her work can be found in private collections throughout Europe, Asia, North, Central and South America.
